Every year hundreds of student athletes miss out on remarkable opportunities

Years ago, a close friend of mine was a principal in the city of Boston and spoke of a student athlete that he just knew was a college player. He had been a model student-athlete, consistently on the honor role, had an impeccable attendance record and solid SAT scores. He was recognized by his peers, teachers and school leadership as an exemplary young man.

As a high school athlete, he captained two varsity sports, was a four year starter, and became a two time MVP within his league. Members of his community firmly believed he would play in college. Without question, he had the character, athletic skills, academic ability and drive to make his dream a reality. He should have had dozens of schools, including selective colleges and universities, offering their best financial packages. Sadly, he was not recruited by a single college or university. When his career ended not one college program knew he even existed.

With the appropriate coaching, support and guidance, he would have had the chance to decide which school best fit him and dozens of schools would have been thrilled to have him join their student body. Instead, he attended a school where he wasn’t recruited, instantly unhappy, felt isolated academically and forced to red-shirt his freshman year.

Advance Collegiate was born from the idea of not missing any more of these opportunities.
